Legacy Wall Celebrates Thompson’s Station Middle School Donors

Legacy walls are a wonderful way to celebrate the people and companies that help schools and other organizations get started on the right path. Opened in August 2018, Thompson’s Station Middle School (TSMS) needed to purchase equipment and other items not covered in the school’s budget. Many local businesses and founding families generously donated funds to help purchase these items. We were honored to fabricate and install a striking legacy wall to celebrate the founding donors. Let’s check it out!

We worked with TSMS’s parent teacher organization (PTO) to create the beautiful donor display. To begin the project, we conducted a site survey to take measurements and to see the walls where the display would be installed. The laminated wood panel walls are located in “The Crossings,” a large common area between the elementary and middle schools which are contained in the same building. This is also where the concession stand is located. After working with the PTO on design ideas, we created a proof to show how the completed legacy wall would look.

This proof provided a great visual representation of how the legacy wall would look after installation.

To fabricate the donor plaques, three different panel sizes were cut from 1/8“ clear, non-glare acrylic, including the following:

  1. 38 – large 9” x 12” panels for company logos
  2. 17 – medium 9” x 6” panels for lists of student names
  3. 152 – small 9” x 3” panels for families

We printed the logos and names in white ink on the acrylic panels using our flatbed printer. We then wrapped each panel individually to transport to the school.

We also laser cut ¼” thick acrylic to create the dimensional letters in “THUNDER LEGACY WALL.”  The letters were painted metallic silver.

Here’s a closer view of the donor plaques. The acrylic panels were installed with tamper resistant stainless steel standoffs for a professional look. A few plaques were left empty to allow last minute donors to be included within this school year.

The donor legacy wall will be enjoyed by future students, families and staff at TSMS for many years to come. What a wonderful way to say thank you to the first families and corporate sponsors!
